ITINERARY

Morocco 10 Days desert trip – Departing from Casablanca.
Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Marrakech, and the cities of Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Fes, and the Sahara Desert
A trip that departs from Casablanca and lasts for 10 days might be just what you need if you’re seeking for the ideal itinerary for your vacation in Morocco.

A fantastic introduction to Morocco, if you have 10 days to spare. Casablanca is a great jumping-off point from which to see the northern and southern highlights of Morocco. The north provides a look into the past of Sultans and Kings, artists, and craftspeople, while the south provides an entirely different experience. Travel to Rabat, the country’s capital, and see the Roman remains and the tranquil blue lanes of Chefchaouen.

After spending time in awe at Fes, you will travel south to the Sahara desert for a night in a nomad tent and a camel trip. Travel to the south of Morocco and take in the expansive valleys, canyons, and oasis dotted with date palms. Get your fill of dates and tagine while exploring kasbahs and Berber communities.

The next stop is Marrakech, where you’ll have time to explore the city’s medina and souks before heading to the airport.

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca To Marrakech.

Welcome to Morocco!

For the first day of this 8-day desert tour from Casablanca, your designated driver will come to pick you up from the airport or your accommodation, then start exploring Casablanca city. Casablanca is known for many things, including the iconic 1942 movie and the world-renowned Hassan II mosque. We will pay a visit to this architectural gem before continuing our journey to Marrakech, the red city. This is where we will spend the first night of your eight days tour from Casablanca.

Day 2: Marrakech.

This next day of our 8 days tour from Casablanca will be dedicated to exploring the red city of Marrakech and uncovering its hidden secrets. We will begin our time at the old medina with its never-ending streets, full of life, colors, and culture. Following this, we will pay a visit to the iconic Koutoubia mosque, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia palace, and the Majorelle garden (this list can be modified according to your liking). In the evening, we will head to the lively Jamaa El Fna square, where you’ll get to see the true vibrant lifestyle of Marrakech city. Finally, we will return to our Riad in the Medina to spend the 2nd night of this tour from Casablanca.

Day 3: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou.

This morning, we will pick you up from the Riad early to start traveling through the beaten paths of the Moroccan desert. But before we do that, we will have to cross the high Atlas Mountains range, which will offer us breathtaking views to be remembered forever.

After we drive through the Tizen Tichka Mountain pass, we will get to one of the most interesting monuments in the region: the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou is a UNESCO world heritage site because of its immense historical and cultural value. The Kasbah has been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and The Mummy. This is where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Ait Ben Haddou to Mhamid.

The next day, we will be leaving Ait Ben Haddou and heading in the direction of Morocco’s Anti-Atlas Mountains. This will take us through the Agdez palm groves and the Tamnougalt Kasbah. Then, we will pay a visit to the Jewish Silversmiths at the Amzerou Palmary, then visit the fascinating 16th-centuryth century subterranean Kasbah. The village where the Kasbah is located is called Tamgroute, known for its artisanal pottery work. After this, we will head to another desert village called Mhamid, which is so remote that the tarmac road ends there. This is where we will spend the night.

Day 5: M’hamid To Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp.

Today we will be heading out to the Erg Chigaga desert by camel, trekking for around 4 hours from Mhamid village.  We will stop in the desert for lunch; then, we will continue traveling into the desert in our 4×4 vehicles. After around 60 km of driving off-piste into the dunes of the Chigaga desert, we will finally arrive at our hidden camp. The evening will be filled with good ambiance, delicious food, and local artists playing Berber drums. We will spend the night at the desert camp.

Day 6: Erg Chigaga Desert Camp to Foum Zguid.

Today will be the last full day spent in the Zagora desert. To enjoy it to the fullest, we have a wide variety of desert activities prepared for you. If you’re a fan of skating sports, make sure to try out sandboarding in this whole new terrain. Similarly, if you’re a fan of SPA activities and self-care, you can try the famous sand baths rumored to have excellent healing properties.

For lunch, you can try a favorite local meal called Medfouna, a meat-filled pie slow-cooked in fire ashes made in the sand. After lunch, we will drive around 90 kilometers to exit the Erg Chigaga, following the old Paris-Dakar rally route. This road will lead us to a small desert village called Foum Zguid, where we will spend the night.

Day 7: Foum Zguid To Marrakech.

From Forum Zguid, we will continue our journey through the desert, passing by Berber towns such as Tazenakht. Following that, we will enter the High Atlas Mountains, where we will stop for lunch before continuing to Marrakech city. We will get there by the evening; then, we will check in at a traditional Riad to spend the last night of this 8 days tour from Casablanca.

Day 8: Departure Casablanca or Marrakech. (Last day of this 8-day Casablanca Desert Tour)
