ITINERARY

Day 1 : Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga

Welcome to Morocco!

For the first day of this 4-day Fes desert tour, we will pick you up from your accommodation (hotel or Riad) and begin our journey to the Moroccan Sahara desert.

The journey will take us through the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains with their fertile green and rocky landscape. Our First stop today will be at perhaps the prettiest village in all of Morocco, Ifrane, nicknamed “The Switzerland of Morocco.” In Ifrane, green parks fill the city alongside chalets and other typical European architecture. After a stroll through the town center, we will be moving forward toward our next destination, the Cedar forests of Azrou. What’s so special about these forests is that they are the natural habitat of the native Barbary monkey species. We can have a refreshing walk through the cedar trees and hopefully get a glimpse of the monkeys (they’re accustomed to visitors!).

Following this, our journey continues crossing the Atlas Mountains until we start reaching Morocco’s desert with the first desert town: Erfoud. Erfoud is known locally for its high-quality marble, fossils, and dates. We will take this opportunity to have a mouthwatering traditional lunch before continuing to the village of Merzouga. This is where we will spend the night at a local Kasbah, experiencing the authentic desert culture.

Day 2: Merzouga village – Rissani – night in a Desert Camp

The next day, you will wake up surrounded by fresh air, good vibes, and tasty breakfast. From here on, we will spend the day exploring our surroundings and other desert villages. Starting with Khamlia, we will visit this village populated by indigenous Gnaoua masters, who are more than happy to share their art and culture with curious visitors.

Next, we will pay a visit to the Rissani village, where we can visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the current ruling Alaouite dynasty. After lunch, we will return to Merzouga, the Moroccan desert’s gateway. At the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, Merzouga is the perfect location for us to begin our camel trekking expedition into the desert.

The end destination of the camel trek is a lovely desert camp neatly hidden away between the dunes, where we will spend the night alongside the beats of Berber drums.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Tinghir – Todra Gorges – Dades valley –skoura – Ouarzazate

The next day, we will be woken up by the mesmerizing desert sunrise, after which we will see the camel trek back to Merzouga. Back in town, you can enjoy breakfast and a warm shower at our hotel.

Following this, we will start heading to the final destination of this tour: Marrakech city. Our journey will take us to the Todra Gorges near Tinjdad, mesmerizing rock formations that attract climbers worldwide. Following the same path, we will arrive at the Dades Valley, where we will make a stop to have lunch and appreciate the scenery.

When we finish that, we will continue traveling alongside a road nicknamed “the road of the Thousand Kasbahs,” containing places such as the valley of Roses and Skoura. Our last stop for the day will be at Ouarzazate city, where we will spend the last night of this 4-day Fes desert tour at a traditional Kasbah hotel.

Day 4:  Ouarzazatte– Ait Benhaddou- Tizi N’tichka Pass- Marrakech (Last day of Fes desert tours)

The last morning of our 4-day Fes desert tour will be spent exploring Ouarzazate, specifically its Atlas Studio’s museums, which will be a blast for every cinema enthusiast. Our next stop will be the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an iconic historical monument near Ouarzazate where many big Hollywood movies were shot (Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of heaven, etc.). Following this fantastic exploration, we will take on a famous mountain pass called Tizen-Tichka, before finally arriving at Marrakech. We can drop you off at your preferred location, after which our Fes desert tours will be over.
