ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech to Ouzoud Falls
Welcome to Morocco!
For your first day on this Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip, we will pick you up from Marrakech (wherever you are in the city) early in the morning, to start traveling through the lush greenery of the Atlas Mountains to get to the fascinating Ouzoud Waterfalls. On our way there, we will stop by Imi Nifri, which is a natural rock formation resembling a man-made bridge with a nearby stream and stunning landscape.
Once we get to the Ouzoud site, we will first have a traditional lunch at one of the Berber restaurants run by local families. Then, you can enjoy a hike around the valley to explore the area or go in for a swim in the fresh clean water of the stream. We will spend the first night of this Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip at the site.
Day 2: Ouzoud Falls To Imilchil.
This next morning of this Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains, we will leave the lovely Ouzoud waterfalls and head deeper into the Middle Atlas. Along the way, we will meet a lot of small Berber villages where we can stop for refreshments and photographs.
Around mid-afternoon, we will get to the Imilchil town at an altitude of 2200 meters and breathtaking panoramic views. The main attractions of the town are the Tislit and Isli twin lakes located in the Atlas national park. We will freely explore the region away from busy tourist crowds, then return to Imilchil to have dinner and spend the 2nd night of your Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip.
Day 3: Imilchil To Boumalen du Dades
Today we will visit two fascinating but different natural locations, and those are the Todra gorges and the Dades Valley.
After leaving Imilchil, we will start driving through the beautiful Atlas Mountains before reaching our first destination: The Todra Gorges. The Todra gorges are a natural rock formation, resulting from glacial activities thousands of years ago. The site is perfect for rock climbers, hikers, and trekkers of all levels. With a lovely freshwater stream running through the gorges, you can enjoy a simple walk through the site and still be mesmerized by its beauty.
After lunch, we will depart towards the Dades valley, which also has its own rock formations that make the landscape so unique. We will spend the last night of this Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip in Dades.
Day 4: Boumalen du Dades to Marrakech. (Last day of Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip)
For the last day of this Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip, we will be heading back to Marrakech city, where our journey started. Before we get there, however, we will make sure to make the most of the time we have left. First, we will leave Dades and take the “road of the thousand Kasbahs”, while taking stops to photograph some iconic views such as the Valley of roses and the Skoura Oasis. Then, we will get to the world-famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
The Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou is a UNESCO world heritage site, because of its immense historical and cultural value. The Kasbah has actually been used as a backdrop for many Hollywood movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and The Mummy. After some time exploring the Kasbah, we will drive through the High Atlas Mountains and the famous Tizin Tichka pass, before finally arriving at Marrakech where our Marrakech to the middle atlas mountains trip ends.
