Essaouira day trip

The road trip on this Best day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira will be a complete change of scenery from what we’ve been experiencing earlier on in Marrakech. Instead of the Atlas Mountains and Sahara deserts, we will now enjoy the fresh sea breeze of the Atlantic Ocean, a bustling Old Medina, as well as fresh seafood. We can take a walk alongside the city ramparts, go for a swim at the beach, or wander around the Old town’s streets. We will have the full day to explore.

We can also get the help of local guide to go on a guided tour of Essaouira city. This way, you can learn about the history and cultural aspects of the city. You’ll get to visit all the different sorts of artisans that have been perfecting their crafts for years in the Old Medina. Other than that, the city’s Moorish and Andalusian architecture gives it a special feel that is unique to only a few towns in Morocco. You can take this opportunity to take some memorable photographs of the city.

Something else we can do is stop at the Sidi Kaouki beach near Essaouira to enjoy its wild beauty. Or, we can head to a trendy location on the edge of Essaouira called Diabat. This is where the famous musician Jimmy Hendrix used to come during his stay at Essaouira in 1968. The area also offers horse riding and camel trekking activities alongside the beach. Finally, our excursion will end in the evening as we head back to Marrakech.
