Essaouira day trip

The road trip on this excursion from Marrakech to Essaouira will be a complete change of scenery from what we’ve been experiencing earlier on in Marrakech. Instead of Atlas Mountains and Sahara deserts, we will now enjoy the fresh sea breeze of the Atlantic Ocean, a bustling Old Medina, as well as fresh sea food. We can take a walk alongside the city ramparts, go for a swim at the beach, or wander around the Old town’s streets. We will have the full day to explore.

We can also get the help of local guide to go on a guided tour of Essaouira city. This way, you can learn about the history and cultural aspects of the city. You’ll get to visit all the different sorts of artisans that have been perfecting their crafts for years in the Old Medina. Other than that, the city’s Moorish and Andalusian architecture gives it a special feel that is unique to only a few towns in Morocco. You can take this opportunity to take some memorable photographs in the city.

Something else we can do stop at the Sidi Kaouki beach near Essaouira to enjoy its wild beauty. Or, we can head to a trendy location on the edge of Essaouira called Diabat. This is where the famous musician Jimmy Hendrix used to come during his stay at Essaouira in 1968. The area also offers horse riding and camel trekking activities alongside the beach. Finally, our excursion will end in the evening as we head back to Marrakech.

Ait ben Haddou day trip

This excursion from Marrakech to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate city is perfect for discovering exactly what the south of Morocco is about, if you can’t spend a full night in the desert. In order to get there, we will be crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains which offer amazing views and scenic landscapes. We can stop at any time along the way to take pictures or visit a local Berber village.

After we drive through the Tizin Tichka Mountain pass (2260 meters of altitude), we will get to one of the most interesting monument in the region: the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou is a UNESCO world heritage site, because of its immense historical and cultural value. The Kasbah has actually been used a backdrop for many Hollywood movies such as: Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and The Mummy.

After some time exploring the Kasbah, we will continue driving to Ouarzazate where we will have lunch then visit the famous Atlas cinema studios museum. Also known as the Hollywood of Morocco, the city gained this name for being home to the country’s biggest cinema studios, which took part in the production of some important Hollywood movies. Next, we can pay a visit to another historically significant Kasbah in the area: The Telouet Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui. After exploring the Kasbah and maybe enjoying a cup of min tea at its rooftop café, we will head back to Marrakech.

Ouzoud waterfalls day trip

This excursion will take you out into the Atlas Mountains surrounding Marrakech, specifically the Ouzoud waterfalls. This will be a great way to cool off from the summer heat, while escaping the busy tourist crowds of Marrakech. This day trip from Marrakech to the Ouzoud waterfalls is also perfect for fans of hiking and outdoor activities, so make sure you pack your hiking shoes!

We will start traveling through the lush greenery of the Atlas Mountains to get to the fascinating Ouzoud Waterfalls. On our way there, we will stop by Imi Nifri, which is a natural rock formation resembling a man-made bridge with a nearby stream and stunning landscape. Once we get to Ouzoud, you can enjoy the cool water from the running river, have a picnic, or go on a hike to discover even more hidden gems in the area.

For lunch, we can visit one of the Berber restaurants run by local families to enjoy a delicious Tajine. Enjoy a hike around the valley to explore the area, or go in for a swim in the fresh clean water of the stream. Around the evening, we will return to Marrakech which marks the end of our excursion.
