Day 1: Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen (Tangier Desert Tours)

Welcome to Morocco!

For the first day of this tour, we will pick you up in Tangier, either from the airport or the ferry port, then start exploring this vibrant metropolis. We will begin by stroll alongside the coast, then visit the city’s old medina quarter. Following that, we will head to our destination of the day, which is the Blue Town Chefchaouen. Located on the foothill of two Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen attracts visitors from all over the world for the vibrant blue color that washes over its buildings and streets.  We will spend the rest of our day exploring the town and enjoying its vibrant and colorful culture, alongside its mouthwatering cuisine. Finally, will head to a traditional Riad where we will have dinner and spend the night.

More tours from Tangier can be found here.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Roman ruins – Meknes – Fes (Tangier Desert Tours)

Today, we will be leaving the Rif Mountains and heading south to one of the most important cultural destination in Morocco: the city of Fes. One the way there, we will first stop at the Volubilis site, which is an archeological town of ruins left behind by the Roman Empire. We will take some time to explore the town and learn about its historical significance, before moving along to the nearby Meknes city. Previously nicknamed “Le Petit Paris” during French colonization, Meknes also used to be the Kingdom’s capital in the 17th and 18th century under the rule of the Ismaili Dynasty. This time period left behind some valuable monuments in the city, which you will get to explore today. Finally, we will continue straight to Fes city where we will spend the night at a traditional Riad.

Day 3: Fes Guided Tour (Tangier Desert Tours)

The next day, you will enjoy a traditional breakfast at the Riad, before heading out to explore the spiritual capital of Morocco, Fes city. The city is divided into two parts: Fes El Bali and Fes Jdid, which translate to the old Fes and the new Fes. Our tour will focus primarily on Fes El Bali, since that’s where the Old Medina is. The old Medina of Fes resembles a maze in how all of its narrow streets connect and lead into each other, making you feel like you’ve been completely immersed into traditional Moroccan culture. Our tour of Fes will also include iconic monuments such as the Quaraouine University (the oldest still operating university in the world), the Nejjarine museum, and The Bou Inania traditional school. After we are done with this, we can visit some parts of Fes Jdid next, where we can find a café with a lovely panoramic view to relax at. Finally, we will head back to our Riad to have dinner and spend the night.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Middle Atlas – Erfoud – Merzouga (Tangier Desert Tours)

The next day, we will be picking you up from the Riad to begin our journey to the Moroccan Sahara desert. The journey will take us through the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains with their fertile green and rocky landscape. Our First stop today will be at perhaps the prettiest village in all of Morocco, Ifrane, nicknamed “The Switzerland of Morocco”. In Ifrane, green parks fill the city alongside chalets and other typical European architecture. After a stroll through the town center, we will be moving forward towards our next destination, the Cedar forests of Azrou. What’s so special about these forests is that they are the natural habitat of the native Barbary monkey species. We can have a refreshing walk through the cedar trees and hopefully get a glimpse of the monkeys (they’re accustomed to visitors!). Following this, our journey continues crossing the Atlas Mountains, until we start reaching Morocco’s desert with the first desert town: Erfoud. Erfoud is known locally for its high quality marble, fossils, and dates. We will take this opportunity to have a mouthwatering traditional lunch before continuing on to the village of Merzouga: the gateway to the Moroccan desert. Situated at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, Merzouga is the perfect location for us to begin our camel trekking expedition into the desert. The end destination of the camel trek is a lovely desert camp neatly hidden away between the dunes, where we will spend the night alongside the beats of Berber drums.

Day 5: Merzouga – The Todra Gorge – Valley of roses – Palmeraie of Skoura – Ouarzazate (Tangier Desert Tours)

The next day, we will be woken by the mesmerizing desert sunrise, after which we will camel trek back to Merzouga. Back at the town, you will be able to enjoy breakfast and a warm shower at our hotel. Following this, we will start heading to the final destination of this tour: Marrakech city. But before this, our journey will take us to the Todra Gorges near Tinjdad, which are mesmerizing rock formations that attract climbers from all over the world. We will have lunch and spend some time exploring the site, before continuing to the Dades Valley. We will then continue travelling alongside a road nicknamed “the road of the Thousand Kasbahs”, containing places such as the valley of Roses and Skoura. Our next stop will be the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is an iconic historical monument near Ouarzazate where many big Hollywood movies were shot (Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of heaven, etc.). Finally, we will head to the nearby Ouarzazate city to spend the night.

Day 6: Ouarzazate – Marrakech (Tangier Desert Tours)

Today, you will be able to explore Ouarzazate city, also known as the Hollywood of Morocco. The city gained this name for being home to the country’s biggest cinema studios, which took part in the production of some important Hollywood movies. After lunch, we will leave Ouarzazate and start heading to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains. We will spend the night at a traditional Riad in Marrakech’s old Medina.

Day 7: Marrakech guided Tour (Tangier Desert Tours)

This next day will be dedicated to exploring the red city Marrakech and uncovering all of its hidden secrets. We will begin our tour at the old medina with its never ending streets, full of life, colors, and culture. Following this, we will pay a visit to the iconic Koutoubia mosque, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia palace, and the Majorelle garden (this list can be modified according to your liking). In the evening, we will head to the lively Jamaa El Fna square, where you’ll get to see the true vibrant lifestyle of Marrakech city. Finally, we will return to our Riad in the Medina to spend the night.

Day 8: Marrakech – Transfer to the airport of Marrakech (Tangier Desert Tours)

For the last day of this tour, you will have free time to explore the city depending on the schedule of your flight. We can drop you off at either the Marrakech Menara airport or the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca.
