Zagora desert tour, ITINERARY
Day 1 of our special Zagora desert tour: Marrakech to Zagora Desert through High Atlas Mountains, Ouarzazate and Draa Valley
Welcome to Morocco!
For your first day on this Zagora desert tour, we will pick you up from Marrakech (wherever you are in the city) early in the morning, to start traveling through the beaten paths of the Moroccan desert. But before we do that, we will have to cross the high Atlas Mountains range, which will offer us breathtaking views to be remembered forever.
After we drive through the Tizin Tichka Mountain pass, we will get to one of the most interesting monument in the region: the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou is a UNESCO world heritage site, because of its immense historical and cultural value. The Kasbah has actually been used a backdrop for many Hollywood movies such as: Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and The Mummy.
After some time exploring the Kasbah, we will continue driving through the lush green Draa Valley, until we finally arrive at the town of Zagora. This is where we will be meeting with a camel caravan to pick us up and take us into the wild Erg Chigaga desert dunes, until we get to the desert camp where we will spend this night of your Zagora desert tour. The evening will be filled with good ambience, delicious food, and local artists playing Berber drums.
Day 2 Zagora desert tour: Zagora to Marrakech via Draa Valley, Ait Ben Haddou and high atlas mountains. (Last day of Zagora desert tour)
The next day of this Zagora desert tour, we will be woken up by the mesmerizing desert sunrise, after which we will camel trek back to Zagora. Back at the town, you will be able to enjoy breakfast and a warm shower at our hotel. Following this, we will start heading back to Marrakech. We will make a stop at Ouarzazate city. Also known as the Hollywood of Morocco, Ouarzazate is home to the biggest film studios in Morocco, which were converted to museums that visitors can enjoy.
After lunch at Ouarzazate, we will finally head back to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains. This is where our Zagora desert tour ends.
