Take in the sweeping vistas from the top of the Spanish Mosque.

The Spanish mosque provides the ideal vantage point from which to take in the cityscape of Chefchaouen. This mosque is located on a hill to the east of the city, and it will take you around 45 minutes to walk there.

 

The path starts at Bab al Ansae, the eastern entrance to the medina, and goes beside a river where you could see ladies washing their laundry.

Hiking up there at the crack of dawn or dusk on a clear day is when you’ll get the most fantastic view of the blue city of the Rif mountains.
